Louis Charity Match | 8.09.2013
Zoe's pov;
Me and my best friend went to Glasgow, Scotland to watch and support Louis in the charity match he was participating in. When we got there we managed to see Louis, yet we didn't get any photo's with him or an autograph. :( Anyway we went inside to watch the game, and it quickly became evident that they didn't want Louis there. As they were warming up, they didn't even include him. He managed to get the ball during warm ups when it went awry. After warming up, they came off, and Louis was a substitute. But as they were calling out the names of the players he got booed. I don't understand this.. I still can't. Why would fans boo a 21 year old lad, who's trying to help out a cancer charity? (Leukaemia) It really irritated and upset me.
Despite cheering for him, and trying to make myself heard, as much as my best friend, there was no beating the boo's. When Louis came on he actually had to try and fight for the ball even from his own team-mates. They wouldn't pass him the ball! That irked me. He's there for the charity. This isn't a football game where there is going to be a serious outcome! IT'S FOR CHARITY.
When he did get the ball he was booed again, and again and again. Then to top it all off, a player from the opposing team hacked him, and he went down, and hurt his knee. Earlier on in the game, the referee actually gave away penalties and free kicks to the players that went down. So why was Louis any different? Is that because he's a pop singer? I find it absolutely disgusting that the poor lad had to get up alone, and wave to the people in the dugout to be taken off.
I got home and my dad had seen it on TV and he said the tackle was that bad that it could have broken Louis' knee. My dad watches football all the time, and he used to play when he was younger, so I trust his opinion on what happened. I seen it happen with my own eyes, and I thought it was terrible from what I seen, but my dad was able to see it up close and it was worse than what I thought.
Overall I didn't like the match at all, and the Celtic fans are a downright disgusting load of people to boo someone who is trying to play for charity. I don't think I'll go back to Scotland. Despite having a beautiful city, most of the people I came across were downright rude. I showed a little girl my signed one direction book from years ago, and I was happily talking to her when I heard one girl comment "Well I've had a hug off Niall!" I wasn't engaging in a competition. So why she had to behave like a jealous mare I haven't a clue! Although this happened, I did find some of the people lovely. This one lady showed us how to get back to the city centre. So Kudos to her!
Emma's POV;
We queued around the front of the stadium to see the players arrive. First to arrive was the extremely beautiful Louis. We all cheered and acknowledged him that we were over the moon to see him and he got photos with fans and signed a few things for them. It annoyed me how the stewards dragged Louis away before he could get to meet the rest of the fans on the other end of the barrier. I was so excited because I thought I actually had the opportunity to show Louis my tattoos.. But nonetheless it was amazing to see him again. It was very strange because to his face everyone was lovely and happy but on the pitch it was a totally different story. As Zoe pointed out above, he got booed every time he had the ball at his feet. I'm so glad he was treat with respect before the game because he knows his true fans, of his music and band, are more important to him than football idiots!
I was really upset by the fact he was barely included in the match and thought it was disgusting that people had the guts to boo someone, no matter who it was.. at a charity event! The last straw was when Louis was tackled and injured. Fair enough footballers do get tackled and hurt all the time. BUT when footballers are hurt they get checked upon and given medical attention. However Louis continued to limp on the pitch. No whistle was blown, no flag was raised, nothing. NO-ONE GAVE A SHIT! Louis had to have words with a man to then be sent off the pitch. I was absolutely disgusted by this and agreed with Zoe to leave the stadium. We left the stadium and were told if we left the stadium we wouldn't be allowed to re-enter. We didn't even hesitate, we followed other fans to try check if Louis was okay. We waited for around 20 minutes at the front again and a black mini van pulled up and took Louis away. I was so glad he was taken away because he was reunited with people who genuinely love him for who he is.
I honestly hope to God that the Doncaster match on the 18th (my birthday :) ) is alot more respectful and friendly. Afterall it's for charity and they're supposed to be supportive and thankful.
Sorry I don't have any pictures to add as my phone is being charged with my USB wires.
:) Emma.
